Biography:

As Vice Chairman at RVmagnetics, Vladimir Markefka has been deeply involved in building one of Europe’s most innovative deep-tech companies — developing the world’s smallest passive sensor based on patented MicroWire technology. Since 2019, he has been shaping the company’s strategic direction, unlocking commercial opportunities, and connecting breakthrough R&D with industrial applications across sectors such as aerospace, manufacturing, defence. Working closely with a highly specialized team — over 70% of whom hold PhDs — he supports the transition of advanced research into viable market solutions. His role spans business development, investor engagement, and guiding the company’s growth in international markets. He has led the team through top innovation ecosystems such as NATO Diana, BIND 4.0, and Sustainable Aero Lab, helping us to validate our solutions in real-world industrial settings.

About RVmagnetics:

RVmagnetics developed the world’s smallest passive sensor — the MicroWire. This proprietary technology forms the foundation of the company’s R&D activities, focused on sensor miniaturisation, multi-parameter sensing, and embedded integration within composite materials for high-performance and safety-critical applications. Designed for seamless embedding into fibre-reinforced composites, MicroWire sensors enable in-site monitoring of strain, temperature, vibration, pressure, and damage without wiring complexity or degradation of mechanical properties. This makes the technology particularly suited for aerospace structures, advanced manufacturing processes, and defence systems, where weight, reliability, and structural integrity are critical. Founded by physicist and academic Prof. Dr. Rastislav Varga, RVmagnetics has evolved through close collaboration with OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, and research organisations seeking next-generation structural health monitoring and process monitoring solutions. The company supports customers from concept development and prototyping through to application-specific sensor integration and validation. In 2025, RVmagnetics was selected for Phases 1 and 2 of the NATO Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) Programme, ranking among 15 companies chosen from more than 2,600 proposals. Since 2015, RVmagnetics has consistently advanced the state of the art in embedded sensing, earning over a dozen national and international innovation awards. Its work has been recognised by leading organisations including Deloitte, TechConnect, EIT Manufacturing, INAM, BIND 4.0, and JEC Group, through participation in prestigious European defence and industrial innovation programmes.
