Sofia SILVA
Biography:
Sofia Silva holds a Master’s degree on Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from University of Porto (FEUP). She started her journey on CeNTI in 2014, where she worked as a researcher on Functional Polymers and Coatings department. Since this period, she worked on projects developing solutions for the automotive and construction industry, through the melt extrusion and hotmelt technologies. Since 2017, Sofia joins in the Functional Fibres department where she actively participates in several National and International projects related with innovative and functional products. Specifically, she focuses her research activity on polymeric materials processing technologies, through the production of non-conventional multi-component melt-spinning thermoplastic textile fibres and thermoplastic composites. Meanwhile, she is taking her PhD on the development of sensing high performance fibres for composites applications.
