Sebastian HERMANSEN
Biography:
Dr. Sebastian Hermansen is a senior specialist in wind turbine blade structural design and optimization at Gurit, as well as a researcher at Aalborg University. His work concerns innovation, development, and integration of advanced materials in wind turbine blades, with a current focus on recycled PET foam core. A key area of Dr. Hermansen’s work at Gurit is to engage and support customers to understand and solve their current challenges related to materials and design. Dr. Hermansen is also active in research and has authored several scientific papers on structural optimization methods for efficient design of advanced composite structures. He recently won a Young Researcher Award for a presentation of his ongoing work. Dr. Hermansen completed his doctoral studies at Aalborg University on “Structural Optimization of Wind Turbine Blades Including Fatigue Constraints”. His PhD work was awarded the prestigious Danish Composite Award, 2025.
