Philipp HUBER
Biography:
I am a development engineer and founder at fenix composites, a pre-seed start-up specialising in the development of recyclable products made from CFRP. Instead of studying mechanical engineering or aeronautical engineering, I come from a maritime background and have a degree in marine engineering. During my time on board, I had to learn to find workable solutions to problems without external help and with limited resources. This strength is also very noticeable in my current work. While studying, I came into contact with the topic of composites and recycling through sailing. The topic has fascinated me ever since. My work with composites then led me into cycling. Today, cycling and composites recycling are the two topics that drive me.
About fenix composites:
fenix composites is a pre-seed startup passionate about reshaping how we design with composites by putting end of life at the very beginning of product development. We bridge advanced materials engineering with sustainability, focusing on recycled carbon fiber (rCF) and thermoplastic matrices in real-world applications such as high-performance bicycle frames. Our expertise spans material selection, joining technologies like thermal direct joining, and hands-on prototyping, which is always backed by rigorous testing and iteration, both in the lab and in the in the lab and in the real world.
