Pedro Mimoso [M], holds a MsC in Mechanical Engineering and has expertise in thermoplastic and thermoset composite materials having participated in more than 30 R&D projects as a researcher since 2008 and as a project manager since 2014. In 2014, as a researcher for the Associated Laboratory for Energy, Transports and Aeronautics (LAETA), presented Liquid Composite Moulding developments for the manufacture of five structural solutions for fixed wing Unmanned Aerial vehicles with maximum take-off weight ranging from 30kg to 250kg. In 2015, he implemented a pilot line for continuous Fibre Thermoplastic Hot Stamping of automotive components used in the H2020 Funded Project ENLIGHT. In 2016, he was the technical coordinator for development of a Composite Elastic Hinge for Antenna Deployment Structure (COMETH) for the European Space Agency. Currently working at PIEP in the capacity of business development director and as senior adviser for the composites team.
The Centre for Innovation in Polymer Engineering (PIEP) is a private association, with a technological and scientific matrix and a business management model.
Founded on December 13, 2000, by the initiative of the industry and in collaboration with the Department of Polymer Engineering of the University of Minho (DEP-UM) and the Support Institute for Small and Medium Enterprises and Innovation (IAPMEI), PIEP intends to provide a prompt response in the delivery of products and services, oriented to the R&D+i needs of companies in the plastics and related sectors, through innovation activities, technology transfer, technical-scientific consultancy, and services provision.
In general, PIEP acts in terms of the provision training and testing services and failure analysis, the development of new materials and products, processing technologies, and productive tools, based on the promotion of the principles of sustainable development (Circular Economy and Environment).
