Manager of R&D department, DEMGY Group

Native from Strasbourg, Ophélie WESTPHAL began her training as a mechanical and plastics engineer at INSA. Passionate about sailing in her youth, she then decided to move to Nantes for a thesis in the mechanics of composite materials, during which she worked on the fatigue behavior of materials used in the Multiplast shipyard (Carboman group). After a short contract at CETIM, she joined Demgy as project manager. 3 years later, during which time she developed a tailor-made composite process for a large-scale project at the Gétigné plant, the company asked her to set up the R&D department to accelerate innovation and support diversification. Married and mother of 2 children aged 3 and 5, Ophélie WESTPHAL now manages a team that supports brands from proof-of-concept to product qualification, positioning the company as a Tier 1 supplier in the sports & leisure sector.
