Biography:

Nicholas Elderfield received a PhD in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Calgary (Alberta, Canada) in 2025. His research focused on the development of a new 3D printing process for manufacturing continuous carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic components with high fiber volume fractions (>50%) and low void contents (<2%). Further work included the development and modeling of the world's first 3D printed carbon fiber deployable booms for spacecraft systems.
