Marialuisa FRANCIA
Biography:
I am a naval engineer whose academic background spans the University of Genoa, École Centrale de Nantes, and TUHH in Hamburg, with a focus on composite structures and advanced marine engineering. Over the years, I gained hands-on experience as a boat builder working on prepreg composite yachts, then as project engineer and project manager. I have been involved in the construction of sailing and motor yachts in fiberglass, as well as high-end racing yachts built in prepreg composites, including America’s Cup, IMOCA and Volvo Ocean Race classes. My experience covers structural components and appendages, along with shipyard management, production oversight, and engineering of manufacturing processes. In 2017, I founded Skyron Yacht Design. In 2023 I also founded P2M, a technology company developing software solutions for composite manufacturers, focused on digitalizing production, technical data, and product lifecycle management.
About P2M:
P2M is a technology company developing digital solutions for the composite manufacturing industry. Its core platform, GENE.SYS, enables the structured management and traceability of composite products throughout their entire lifecycle, from production to operation and maintenance. GENE.SYS is designed to support the implementation of the Digital Product Passport (DPP) in compliance with current and upcoming European regulations. By centralizing technical, production, and maintenance data, the platform allows manufacturers and shipyards to maintain continuity of information over time and across stakeholders. A key objective of GENE.SYS is to ensure that reliable lifecycle data can be transmitted to the future recycling and disposal supply chain. This enables informed, responsible decisions regarding reuse, recovery, and end-of-life treatment of composite products, supporting circular economy principles and sustainable industrial practices.
