Jan-Anders MANSSON
Biography:
Professor Jan-Anders E. Mansson, following his PhD from Chalmers University and industrial engagements as CTO in Sweden, he was appointed Professor at the University of Washington. In 1990, Mansson joined EPFL, Lausanne, as Professor and head of the Composite Laboratory where he also served as Vice-President for the University. In 2016 moved to Purdue University as Distinguished Professor where he founded the Manufacturing Design Laboratory (MDLab) and the Ray Ewry Sports Engineering Center. He has served as Chairman of the Swimwear Approval Committee of the International Federation of Swimming (World Aquatics) and on the Advisory Board of IOC’s Athlete Learning Gateway as well as President of the International Sport Academy (AISTS). Mansson also led, among others, the scientific activities for the winning Swiss America’s Cup yacht Alinghi and the Solar Impulse. Mansson is ICCM Composite World Fellow and member of the Swedish and the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences.
