Biography:

Cláudia Costa is R&D Manager at Surforma S.A since 2016, a company that produces and commercialize HPL and compacts. She received her PhD degree in Physics-Chemistry from Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 2012, in the field of Printed Electronics and have more than 15 years of experience working on developing disruptive products.

Surforma, S.A, located in Maia- Portugal, is engaged in the production and marketing of high -pressure decorative laminate materials. It  is 100% owned by SC Industrials (a Sonae Group company). The genesis of Sonae, one of the largest industrial and worldwide business groups in the wood derivatives sector, dates back to 1959, when Sonae - Sociedade Nacional de Estratificados, SA was founded to produce decorative thermo-laminates. Surforma’s growth strategy is based on its commitment to innovation and R & D as a means of reaching a leading position in the HPL markets. More recently, Surforma launched several products based on R&D work and collaborations, namely Antiviral HPL, Natur HPL, WarmIN HPL and CompactShield. Three of those won an Interzum award in 2023 and German Innovation award in 2024
