JEC World: revealing and enhancing the promise of the composites market

2025-04-14T17:26:21

This opening statement should not be interpreted as a conventional exercise in self-congratulation and should, on the contrary, take on its full significance in a context surrounded by macroeconomic uncertainties, highlighted during the Leadership Circle which inaugurated what we can call "The" composites week. And the background music at the show will, of course, have been this concern and the announcements of various regions meaning more international tensions. It’s fair to admit that this isn’t exactly chamber music, but nevertheless, it hasn’t slowed the momentum of the composites industry and its fever for innovation.

If the show is also business-oriented, JEC World remains the first choice for professionals to share their highlights and major innovations. Among the highlights of 2025, several marked trends can be identified. From a sectoral perspective, beyond the defence sector, which is beginning to be discussed openly again, aeronautics is naturally on everyone’s lips, with a very strong growth outlook and order backlogs at a historical level. In order to meet the challenge of production rates, this also fuels discussions around the ramp-up to large-scale production. Robotics, digital simulation tools, and artificial intelligence are now integral parts of this equation. The future of composites definitely lies in smart manufacturing solutions.

From another perspective, these developments foster partnerships, and JEC World 2025 witnessed numerous agreement signings that could usher in a fruitful era of coopetition.

Furthermore, sustainable development remains a key trend at the event, with increasingly robust and substantial projects in chemistry and materials, as well as in manufacturing, energy consumption management, and supply chain optimisation.

A common thread for a world seeking a more sustainable future.
