Data-driven Optimisation of Wind Turbine Blade Manufacturing Processes: Overview of the Turbo Project

12 Mar 2026
Open Stage
Due to the focus in recent years on increased scale of wind turbine blade design and manufacture, there are opportunities to reduce inefficiencies in the various production processes used. TURBO project is developing data-driven manufacturing and inspection technologies to enhance the infusion and coating of offshore wind turbine blades for Siemens Gamesa. The technologies, which have been demonstrated via sub-scale systems at NCC, aim to improve the as-manufactured quality of blades through the adaptive control of the infusion process and enhanced defected detection capabilities.
