Advanced Composites for Aircraft Interiors: Elantas Recent Developments
After extensive research, Elantas presents the development of the new generation of interior materials for aircraft applications.
The presentation shows how requirements have changed over the past decades for the manufacturing of composite interior components and how Elantas has met them by developing new prepregs and core filler materials with improved performance and sustainability. Focus is given on flammability, smoke and heat release properties of the materials; in this area an innovative use of Mica as natural and incombustible material is also presented showing its potential for improving the composite fire performance. In conclusion an overview is given about the potential of Vitrimer chemistry to enable recyclability of future thermoset-based interior laminates and sandwich components.
