Building Affordable Circular Continuous Fiber Reinforced Composites Through Recycled and Bio Based Materials
Driven by a strong commitment to social and environmental responsibility, Toray Performance Materials Corporation is advancing practical pathways toward a more sustainable composites industry. Achieving true circularity in composites shouldn’t mean accepting higher costs or lower performance. In this presentation, we introduce a new generation of affordable circular continuous fiber reinforced composites built from recycled and bio‑based materials—without sacrificing structural capability.
We will showcase our portfolio of patent‑pending solutions, beginning with our recycled‑resin UD tape that delivers virgin‑level performance at no additional cost. We will also highlight our zero‑discharge manufacturing initiative, where waste materials from our production processes are converted into high‑quality recycled resin pellets used to produce strong, consistent composite parts. Finally, we will present composite parts made from natural fiber combined with bio‑based resin, enabling the finished materials to achieve USDA certification and demonstrating that sustainability and high performance can fully coexist.
All solutions are scalable, production‑ready, and cost‑competitive, unlocking a practical path for our customers to adopt circular composite technologies today.
