Circular by Design: Using Recycled Carbon Fibre in High Performance Composites

12 Mar 2026
Agora 5

This session brings together experts from across the composites value chain—from fibre recovery and surface chemistry to alignment processes, part manufacture and OEM qualification—to examine what it takes to scale high‑value recycled carbon fibre (rCF) into high performance composite applications. Expect industry insights, real‑world data and a clear view of where rCF can deliver meaningful performance, sustainability and supply‑chain resilience gains.

Through the examination of James Cropper’s breakthrough aligned nonwoven technology, the panel will use a real‑world development case study as a reference point, to explore the complexities of achieving circularity in high‑performance composites. Discussions will centre on fibre quality and consistency, alignment and processing repeatability, laminate performance thresholds, industrialisation and the market and certification dynamics that govern adoption. The session will also interrogate the broader technical and commercial conditions required for rCF to become a viable feedstock for demanding applications.

Join us as we assess the potential for next‑generation sustainable composites across Aerospace, Automotive and other advanced material sectors. Whether your interest lies in performance, variability control, carbon footprint reduction or future supply‑chain strategy, this session will illuminate what is truly possible—and what remains to be solved—as the industry works to close the loop on composite materials.

Technology Development: Dr. Mandy Clement, Innovation Director for James Cropper Advanced Materials, will detail the evolution of aligned nonwoven technology and its capability to integrate recycled fibres without sacrificing mechanical properties.
Industry Impact: Dale Brosius, former CCO of IACMI, will discuss how this advancement addresses critical challenges for OEMs and Tier suppliers, and what it means for the future of lightweighting and sustainability in composites.
Collaborative Sustainability: Claude Despierres, Vice President - Sustainability And Business Development,  Hexcel will share insights on their work with industry partners, and why circularity is central to their strategy.
