Composites in Aeronautics: Overcoming Barriers to Adoption in Next-Generation Aircraft

11 Mar 2026
Agora 6
This conference will explore the key roadblocks still preventing full adoption of composite materials in future aeronautics programs. While composites offer clear benefits (lightweighting, efficiency, and design freedom) challenges remain. Topics include cost competitiveness, repairability, joining and welding certification for thermoplastics, and the industrial readiness of innovative manufacturing processes. Panelists will address quality control, certification hurdles, and end-of-life and recycling strategies. With a business-driven lens, the session will map the technological and economic levers needed to accelerate composites integration in next-generation aircraft.
