Sustainability in Elantas through Innovative Resin Systems and Natural Reinforcements for Composite Applications

Elantas presents the benefits of new materials with focus on composites for transportation applications. The presentation shows how the formulation of sustainable resins, natural fillers and manufacturing concepts resulted in sustainable products, that for example have found applications for cabin interior tanks to the improved fire retardancy and fire resistance performance.  A special focus is given to the role of Mica that can be used as natural reinforcement not only into traditional applications such as battery protection but also as protective fire layer in composite structures. Mica is a natural filler that can be converted from rock to a lightweight paper and prepreg with high fire barrier capabilities.
