Sustainable Success with CO2 Reduced Carbon Fiber

SGL Carbon relies on resource-friendly manufacturing in the production of its own carbon fibers. By using renewable energy, the carbon footprint of our fiber can be reduced by up to 50% compared to a conventional carbon fiber in the industry.

As part of the consistent implementation of our climate strategy, we will be using a nearly CO2-neutral biomass system to generate energy at our Lavradio site in Portugal from the beginning of 2024.

Combined with the renewable energy supply at our Moses Lake site in the USA, we can achieve a significant reduction in CO2 emissions in the production of our own SIGRAFIL carbon fibers.
