Thermoplastic pultruded for battery cross members

We have developped expertise trough years on thermoplastic material and we explored a new process with CQFD composites : the pultrusion which implies pulling fiber through extrusion die. This process offers new opportunities to extend our products range.

Why and Whom

Battery casing are traditionally aluminum. Trend is currently to replace aluminum with steel or composites on top cover and bottom plates. We already launched in mass production to strutural applications; in order to go further on the innovation field, we explored thermoplastic pultrusion to replace battery cross members.This technology enables similar hollow profiles as aluminum extrusion.

The main benefits of the technology compared the aluminum extruded cross members are: - Higher strength and stiffness, - Higher resistance to crash and energy adsorption, - Weight reduction, - Carbon footprint improvement, - Recyclibility, - Resistance to corrosion.
