rCF Automotive Door Module
HRC developed a patented process to recycle carbon fiber from CFRP waste, producing pellets and nonwoven rCF materials. Both types of rCF are used in the automotive door module. The project utilizes an overmolding process with a cycle time of just 3 minutes, ensuring both effiency and sustainability in manufacturing.
Why and Whom
In response to growing environmental concerns, we developed this solution to promote sustainability within the automotive industry. This approach aligns with the industry's shift towards more eco-friendly manufacturing practices and helps reduce the environmental impact of production.
Key Benefits
The rCF solution provides multiple benefits: 1) Cost-efficiency through proprietary recycled carbon fiber materials; 2) A one-shot molding process with a short cycle time, enhancing production efficiency; 3) A lightweight, eco-friendly design that improves vehicle performance and reduces emissions by 9.97 kgCO2e/kg compared to vergin carbon fiber.
