Benefits for the final customers?

  • Scrap recovery, second-life material
  • Weight reduction (around 400 g less than aluminum)
  • Reduced energy consumption
  • Reduced CO2 emissions
  • Reduced processing time
  • Improves the sector''s competitiveness

The product : materials and processes

The obtained scrap, in the form of unidirectional (UD) PEKK tapes reinforced with carbon fibre (CF), can be used for a compression moulding process. NLR developed a thermoplastic window frame that can be assembled by welding or co-consolidation.
