Genesis of your product. why and for whom?
Commercial aircraft seats are complex to recycle. We developed an aircraft seat based on sustainability criteria: simplified recycling by using one polymer type, function integrated light-weight design, effective processes for series production of parts, elimination of toxic primers.
Benefits for the final customers?
The seat is built as a functional-integrated light-weight carbon fiber design from one polymer type.

The product : materials and processes
The product is a hybrid seating structure for an aircraft consisting of polyurethane (PU). The solid parts are carbon fibre reinforced and manufactured with wet compression moulding (WCM) and sheet moulding compound (SMC). These parts are joined together with a PU adhesive. Metals inserts are coated with a nano-porous adhesion layer by plasma polymerisation.
