FLAX FIBRE COMPOSITE PARTS FOR THE ALPINE A110 E-TERNITE ELECTRIC CAR
Genesis of your product. why and for whom?
Alpine wanted to integrate flax fibre composite parts into their Alpine A110 E-ternite electric car. TDL Technique supported them in the flax fibre composite development. It is a laboratory to work on their future electric car. It has several flax fibre composite parts: Hood, Roof, Seats shell.
Benefits for the final customers?
Alpine wanted to replace carbon by flax fibre to reduce the carbon footprint. Flax fibre composites contribute to:
- Lightness to decrease energy consumption
- Good vibration damping to enhance comfort
- Energetic valorization at the end of life of thermoset flax composite part
- Innovative aesthetics.
The product : materials and processes
TDL Technique developed a full range of chemical-free flax fibre roving made of parallelized untwisted flax fibres. This technology allows better impregnation the mechanical properties of flax fibre are preserved. TDL Technique supplied the flax fibre rovings and supported Alpine in the development of the fabric for thermoset composites parts.
