Aerospace overhead bin pin bracket
Genesis of your product. why and for whom?
The objective is to substitute structural aluminum parts in airplane''s cabins with composites. Here, 9T Labs collaborated with Purdue University to design and manufacture an overhead bin pin bracket using AFT. Specifically, it is about co-moulding CF platelets with printed continuous fiber preforms.
Benefits for the final customers?
For any aerospace customer, lightweighting through the substitution of aluminum parts with composites has a huge benefit in reducing the airplane''s consumption. In addition, AFT helps customers to manufacture stronger and lighter products, at lower cost, and zero waste.
The product : materials and processes
This aerospace overhead bin pin bracket was manufactured with 9T Labs'' Additive Fusion Technology (AFT).It includes carbon fiber platelets and printed continuous fiber preforms, both with a PEKK polymer.
