About Sustainability

JEC World

Our Sustainability Commitments

Our aim for JEC World: a sustainable event for a sustainable industry.

About Sustainability

Our goal for JEC World is to have a responsible event serving a responsible industry.

Since 2019, JEC World has been committed to reducing its environmental impact and adopting ""state-of-the-art"" materials and techniques to make JEC World one of the leading exhibitions for sustainability in France. Constant progress has been realized thanks to the implication of our exhibitors and suppliers.

JEC also prioritizes Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) and will implement an Exhibitor Code of Conduct to determine the framework for ethics and responsible behaviours at JEC World. This Code of Conduct will also be declined into a Supplier Code of Conduct that will be enforced by all the official suppliers of the Exhibitors.

JEC World, a 100% selective sorting event

At each stage of the event (setting up, opening to the public, and dismantling), we put in place a system to encourage the collection, sorting, and recycling of waste (including booth construction wastes).

  • Partnership with Millenium: We have selected Millenium as an official cleaning partner, which offers Exhibitors waste disposal solutions with the aim of recycling.
  • Waste Reduction: Between 2019 and 2024, our report shows a 30% reduction in our waste tonnage, thanks to the implementation of waste sorting and the awareness of exhibitors.
  • 50% of the waste collected at the end of JEC World was recovered. These efforts position the event among the top 10 French trade shows in terms of environmental impact. This has been achieved while the exhibition welcomed 10% more exhibitors.
  • Reinforcing safety: JEC World has also reinforced security personnel and invested in a video surveillance system to prevent illegal waste dumping.

Recyclable & Recycled materials

  • Recyclable carpet: The carpet used in the aisles, on welcome areas and animations, and also on equipped booths are specially designed to be recycled. With a latex-free design and production that does not require water, its manufacturing consumes 85% less energy than traditional carpet. This carpet (Rewind type) will be 100% recycled after the show.
  • 100% recycled cotton: The cotton used to cover the equipped booth partitions, the welcome areas and animations is also 100% recycled at the end of the show.
  • Sustainable signage: We recycle 100% of the signs on the equipped booths, and 90% of our signage is made of cardboard instead of non-woven textiles, to encourage recycling.
  • Responsible print media: All our materials (JEC Composites Magazine, Buyer’s Guide, Visitor’s Guide) are printed on recycled paper and will be recycled after the show.
  • Ecological welcome tools: All our welcoming tools (bags, lanyards and badge holders) are printed on recycled materials and will be recycled after the show.

Reasonable Energy Consumption

Reduce Energy Consumption

We rationalize our energy consumption:

  • 100% of booths are equipped with LED lighting.

  • The power-up hours of the electrical boxes have been reduced to reduce electricity consumption.

  • Lighting outside opening hours is optimized.

  • Thermal comfort is optimized (heating setpoint at 18°C) and controlled by zone.

Reduction of the use of plastic materials

  • No single-use plastic food packaging is used by official caterers and F&B outlets in Paris Nord Villepinte.

  • We also use reusable tableware and recyclable disposable tableware.

  • Water fountains will be installed in the halls to fill your bottles.

  • Since JEC World 2024 we use badge holders made from recyclable material, with collection and recycling of any unused copies.

Reduce Plastic Materials

Reduction of carbon footprint

Reduce Carbon Footprint

We favor public transport:

  • We provide Exhibitors and Visitors with a free shuttle service connecting the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center to Paris-CDG airport, to selected nearby hotels, and to the Paris city center itself.
  • RER timetables are displayed within the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center.

This reduced the traffic of individual cars by 9% while the attendance grew by 7%.

Reuse

  • Furniture is rented for all equipped booths, welcome areas, and animations. It is sometimes purchased and stored for use on multiple events (no single use).

  • The structures of the welcome areas and animations (Agoras, VIP Lounge, Planets, JEC booths, etc.) have been reused for several sessions. Structures manufactured for 2025 are designed to be reused and/or recycled.

  • More than 80% of the exhibition areas have been used more than five times and are only re-customized.

  • 100% of the equipped booth structures are reused at other shows.

  • Since 2024, JEC has offered exhibitors the opportunity to collaborate with our specialized partner to identify reuse solutions and reduce their carbon footprint. Thanks to this initiative, 33 tons of reusable materials have been collected and redistributed to five dedicated reuse sectors.

Additionally, we recovered unused promotional items from exhibitors (pens, notebooks, bottles, bags), which were then donated to Parisian charities."

Reuse

Revalorization

Revalorisation
  • In 2025, we allow exhibitors to give us their unused promotional items(pens, notebooks, bags, etc.) for redistribution to Parisian associations. Contact: [email protected]
  • Goodies ordered by JEC and not distributed during the show will also be given to these associations.

Inclusion, Solidarity, Employment

  • Disabled access: A personalized welcome is provided, including the loan of a wheelchair if necessary. A direct telephone line is dedicated to access to the car parks.

  • Booth building teams welcome:

    • A free welcome coffee is offered upon their arriva

    • We work to improve setting up conditions every year and strengthen cleaning systems to provide the best safety and traffic conditions in Paris Nord Villepinte.

  • Promotion of training and recruitment: Free entries are offered to students. Each year a Campus zone also welcomes universities from the Composites sector.
